Cradle of Aviation - Colors of the Universe
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 01/02/2022
In this self-guided activity, learn how the telescopes take their photographs and how scientists/artists take those pictures to create the beautiful imagery we see. Children and their grownups can then color in their own Nebula pictures based on real space telescope data.
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Colors of the Universe
When space telescopes like Hubble or the James Webb take photographs of the universe, we usually think that they produce gorgeously colored photos showing incredible detail but the truth is a bit different: the actual photos these telescopes send back to Earth are black and white. In this self-guided activity, learn how the telescopes take their photographs and how scientists/artists take those pictures to create the beautiful imagery we see. Children and their grownups can then color in their own Nebula pictures based on real space telescope data.
