Great South Bay Marine Life/Ecosystem Fish and other marine life found in the Great South Bay will be presented and campers will attempt to identify various bait fish and clams found in the bay. We will also present how to protect our ecosystems, how the tides shift and the role of marshes in a healthy bay. Beach Clean Up Education on the problems that plastics have on our waters. ABOUT THE CAMP

1. Great South Bay/Ocean History

Stories, and tales of the Ocean/Great South Bay and Fire Island. We will be looking into the origins of the ocean, mythical and present time creatures, and beliefs about the uncharted ancient seas. The vast and varied gamefish found in our area will be explored and discussed. Your explorer will create an ocean themed art project as well! 

2. Great South Bay Marine Life/Ecosystem

Fish and other marine life found in the Great South Bay will be presented and campers will attempt to identify various bait fish and clams found in the bay. We will also present how to protect our ecosystems, how the tides shift and the role of marshes in a healthy bay.

3. Beach Clean Up

Education on the problems that plastics have on our waters.

4. Fishing Techniques and Knowledge

How to tie a fishing knot, what to look for when finding a fishing spot and more information related to fishing on Long Island.

Time: 8:30AM-11:30AM

Ages 5 and up

*Please pack a lunch, plenty of water, sweatshirt, and sunscreen, rashguards, towel, water shoes and swimming attire. 

***Your child DOES NOT have to know how to swim but they must be comfortable near the water.

**ALL learning materials (i.e. pencils, notebooks, folders, etc.), art, and science supplies are INCLUDED

**This is an all-outdoors camp
