Bug Buddies: Lanternflies
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 08/03/2025
Spotted lanternflies are everywhere—but how much do you really know about them? Join us as we separate fact from fiction, learn why they’re a problem, and practice safe, responsible ways to observe them.
Did you know lanternflies don’t actually harm trees by eating leaves? Their real threat comes from their sugary waste, which attracts mold and weakens plants. In this hands-on session, we’ll discuss ethical ways to manage them, debunk common myths, and even try catching them (safely!) for observation.
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Classes will take place both outdoors (weather permitting) and indoors. All classes are hands-on, exploratory, and include a related activity.
Recommended for ages 3-10 years old, but all are welcome. One parent or guardian must remain with child(ren) at all times, this is not a drop-off program.
