Participants will learn how to build and maintain an efficient compost system tailored to their space—whether that’s a backyard bin, a tumbler, or a small-scale indoor setup. We’ll cover composting fundamentals, including the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio (browns vs. greens), the role of moisture and aeration, and how to troubleshoot common issues like odors or pests.
You’ll also gain insight into how composting at home supports broader sustainability goals by reducing methane emissions from landfills, enriching soil structure, and replacing synthetic fertilizers with finished compost—a free, valuable, and eco-friendly resource for your garden or landscaping.
In this class, you’ll learn:
The biological process of decomposition and why it matters
What materials can (and can’t) be composted
How to maintain a balanced, efficient compost system
Different composting methods and tools for various living spaces
How to use finished compost to improve soil health and plant vitality
The environmental impact of composting and how it supports climate resilience
Whether you’re new to composting or looking to refine your skills, this class will provide the knowledge and confidence to reduce waste and contribute to a more regenerative future—starting right at home.
