Since 2009, the six week summer program at The Quad Manhattan is the perfect home for twice-exceptional (2e) children year after year! The blend of psychosocial/emotional and executive functioning skill training and support coupled with fun and active camp traditions in talent development and spirit, campers engage in a full day of programming that is sure to develop lasting impressions, friendships, and skills.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
AGE GROUPS

Students are grouped roughly by age, but more so by social cognitive skill level and interests.

  • Core 1: ages 5+

  • Core 2: ages 7+

  • Core 3: ages 10+

  • Counselor in training (teens): ages 13+

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Each day’s activities are embedded with The Quad’s skill-building curriculum which is designed by Quad Manhattan experts to meet the needs of each individual camper.  Each Core group of no more than ten children (and no less than six) is led by a Lead Core Teacher, who is a special educator or trained mental health professional. A competitive internship brings university upperclassmen from around the country to assist in our classrooms, supervised by our directors and core staff. Our summer director, supervising child psychologist, consulting speech therapist, founder and managing director provide hands-on, full time supervision each day. The result is a 3:1 camper to teacher ratio that allows for individualized and differentiated fun for each child’s gifts and challenges.

  • Weekly class newsletters to parents and outside providers
